Now, he isn't a jerk except when driving but considering the situation, the chances of rescuing Touya AND making it out alive seemed pretty slim. Not to mention it'd be pretty scary. If he had any kind of vehicle, it'd be a different story. But nope, his car is currently a couple miles away, so even if he ran to it it'd probably be too late at that point.
